It runs a little long as we celebrate both Lunar New Year and Black History Month---and we had a couple of announcements.
There was also a bit of a problem with the audio on some of the students we recorded. These are the kids who share about the gift bags that the PTA was so generous to donate. Here is their script (in case you can't raise the volume)

Ni Hao--

The MHS PTA would like to wish everyone a hopeful and prosperous Year of the Tiger. With the generous contributions from our community we have some gifts for you.
Aiven
You will receive mandarins or tangerines which are fruit that appears every year during Lunar New Year. The Chinese word for mandarins -- gam or gum -- sounds just like gold, so this fruit is thought to represent fullness, good wealth, and fortune.
August
You will also receive lai che or a red envelope that has a ginger candy. Ginger is considered a very healthy food that will bring about a long life
Adeline
Everything we are giving out has to be given in pairs (two ginger candies and two fruit) to symbolize "togetherness," which is a very important value in Asian and all cultures including the culture here at MHS.
