A message from MONTEREY HILLS SCHOOL Dear MHS Families Please join us for the first Friday assembly of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We have created two assemblies in the hope that each would meet the instructional needs of our students. Half of both assemblies include: my greeting; pledge and jokes/riddles led by Student Council; a PTA Annoucement and a presentation by Mrs. Tull's and Mrs. Owen's classes. We follow this with two different clips, one featuring children's favorite foods and the other a student chef and photographer! Then the primary and upper grade videos offer different learning opportunites. For our primary grade students, they will get an opportunity to learn more about the Asian continent. For our upper grade students, they too get a chance to learn about the 43 countries that make up Asia and they also get a chance to hear from Asians who have felt the impact of racial stereotypes. Our assemblies this month will continue to provide an opportuntity for visibility, inclusivity and equity.
