Dear Monterey Hills Community, 

I’m Mallory Buril, this year’s PTA President, and on behalf of the Monterey Hills School PTA Executive Board, I’m excited to welcome back our Roadrunners for the 2026-2027 school year!

Joining me on this year’s board: Argelia Garcia, EVP; Regina Enroth, 1st VP Ways & Means; Breye Mata, 2nd VP Membership; Azzaria Chaiboonma, 3rd VP Volunteer Coordinator; Gracia Hortum, 4th VP Programs; Theresa Hsaio, Recording Secretary; Mireya Naranjo, Treasurer; Gina Kim, Financial Secretary; Emma Galicia, Financial Reviewer; Eric Becker, Corresponding Secretary; Lester Garcia, Parliamentarian; and Jennifer Ho, Historian. 

We’re also welcoming our new principal, Ms. Julia Johnson, to MHS, and can’t wait for the community to get to know her.

We’ve been hard at work all summer planning for this year, and we have some amazing experiences planned for our students and school community.

If you happen to have little ones starting TK or Kinder this year, please mark your calendars for Friday August 7 at 5pm for our TK/K Popsicle Party. (This event is for TK and Kinder students only, please no siblings) At this event, your little ones will have the opportunity to meet their fellow classmates, play on the playground and become familiar with the school prior to the first day. Parents, you’ll have the opportunity to hear about PTA at Monterey Hills, purchase spirit wear, and socialize with fellow parents. 

Please share this info with anyone new to the neighborhood who has little ones starting at MHS! 

We hope you’ll ALL join us for our Annual Welcome Back Festival on Friday, August 14, from 4-7pm on the MHS Playground to kick off the school year together. Food trucks will be on-site with items available for purchase, plus kids’ activities, a DJ, and more. Come see what PTA has planned, pick up spirit wear, and learn about the community organizations and afterschool programs South Pas offers.

Parents and Guardians: for your first homework assignment of the year, I’m going to ask you to visit the all-new MHS PTA website and complete the Fall 2026 Form for their family. This new, streamlined process will look a little different than years prior, but I promise it’s simpler than ever. This is the most important step to get our school year off to the right start and to keep you connected to MHS all year long! With one form, you’ll be able to join the PTA (membership resets every year) and make your contribution to our Roadrunner Fund. All with one simple checkout.

Classes that have 100% completion of their Fall Forms will receive a popsicle party. Classes that have 100% Fall Form completion AND 100% PTA membership will level up to pizza and popsicles! 

In the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting you all in person and sharing more with you about PTA and how your contributions to the Roadrunner Fund directly support our students and classrooms. With your continued investment and support, we hope to offer continued campus educational, cultural, and social-emotional learning experiences this year.

I heard a PTA leader once say that at its core, “the PTA is about making memories for our children”. I hope that you’ll join us this year as a PTA member and volunteer to make this a truly great year for MHS and its students.
