Dear Families,

The safety and security of our students and staff across SPUSD remain our top priority. We are excited to announce that we are upgrading our front desk check-in process using Verkada, an upgraded self-serve visitor management system (that all SPUSD schools will be implementing) designed to keep our campus secure while making your visits smoother.

What to Expect When Visiting:

1. Bring a Valid Photo ID: Every visitor (parents, guardians, volunteers, vendors) will need to bring a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport) for their first visit.

2. Self-Service iPad Check-In: You will complete the check-in process on a self-help iPad kiosk located at the front counter. It will guide you step-by-step, and our office staff will always be right there to assist if you need help!

3. Initial Setup (First-Time Visitors Only):

   • Required Consent Screens: During your first check-in, you will be prompted to sign two digital consent screens:

     • Screen 1: Explains that your personal data is secure and will never be shared.

     • Screen 2: Notifies you that video cameras are active on campus and that you may be recorded.

   • Optional Express Check-In Checkbox: At the bottom of the first screen, you will see an optional checkbox to enable faster visits in the future. By checking this, you won't need to pull out your ID every time—subsequent visits can use quick facial recognition to print your badge instantly.

4. Visitor Badge: Once checked in, a temporary visitor badge sticker will print automatically. Please wear it visibly while on campus.  

5. Flexible & Line-Free Check-Out: To prevent lines from forming at the desk, you do not need to check out on the iPad screen when leaving. You can easily check out directly on your smartphone via an automated text notification sent to you, or simply leave—the system will automatically check everyone out at 11:00 PM.
