Lunar New Year begins February 17, 2026. In many Asian cultures, it is a major 15-day festival welcoming spring, honoring ancestors, and ensuring good fortune. It is a time for family reunions, vibrant festivities, red decorations, and traditional feasts.
In past years, LNY has mainly focused on Chinese celebrations. Because Project PEACE endeavors to introduce many cultures to our students, last year we introduced Korean LNY traditions. This year from February 18-22, we will highlight Tết, the Vietnamese LNY celebration!
On February 18, food tastings will include vegetarian egg rolls, fortune cookies, orange slices, dried coconut (Mut Dua), and pork loaf (Cha Lua). If your child has allergies or food sensitivities, please inform them not to participate, and inform their teacher, as well.
