Yellow Ribbon Week (YRW) - January 26-30, 2026
YRW is an annual campaign held in schools nationwide to focus on promoting kindness, anti-bullying, and preventing self-harm by encouraging hope, connection, and emotional well-being through themed activities. At the elementary level, some of these topics can be a bit heavy. As a result at MHS, we have chosen to focus YRW on kindness and self confidence.
This year’s theme is representation & connection, a joyful celebration of identity, creativity and community. Through music, art and multicultural expression, students can discover the powerful ways that culture shapes who we are and how creativity becomes a universal language when words are hard to find. This week encourages students to uplift one another through:
-
Collaborative art that shows every student has a place in the picture
-
Music and performance that helps us express feelings with confidence
-
Activities centered on kindness, gratitude and reaching out for help
At Monterey Hills, every voice, every story, every culture and every heart matters. Together, we can ensure our students feel seen, supported and never alone.
Thank you parents for joining us yesterday morning to help with collage prep and joining us for some Costa Rican coffee provided by 2nd grade mom, Deb Clem!
