Ms. Amy Blum,

MHS Librarian

The Monterey Hills School Library is open to students from 7:45-3:15, Monday-Friday. All classes visit the library on a regular weekly basis for story time, library lessons, and to borrow books. Every effort is made to introduce students to a variety of age appropriate literature including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and biographies. In addition, students are taught grade appropriate library standards and lessons. TK and Kindergarten students enjoy their borrowed books in their classrooms and do not take them home. In other grades, each individual teacher determines whether or not students are allowed to take their library books home.

How Can Parents Help?

• Consider becoming a library volunteer. It’s rewarding, enjoyable, and supports the effectiveness of our program. Basic training is required and provided. Please contact Ms. Blum for further information

• Please be aware of your student’s class library day and remind him/her to return library books each week.

• If your child has lost or damaged a school library book, we charge replacement fees of $20 per hardcover, and $10 for paperbacks. (We do not charge overdue fines.) For lost or damaged books, you also have the option of purchasing a copy directly for our library, but please keep in mind that a lost hardcover MUST be replaced with a hardcover copy in new or very good condition.

We have 19,000+ books in our school library. Our library catalog is accessible online by clicking here and then click on Monterey Hills to view our collection.
